Thank you for your interest in registering to exhibit at the ECU Careers and Employment Fair, 2008. This year ECU is planning a large and more comprehensive event that is attracting a broader range of nationally and locally based employers.

We welcome back past participants and thank you for your continuing support and interest in our graduates. For those participating in the Fair for the first time, we hope your experience is positive and serves to foster a strong and continuing link.

The Careers and Employment Fair has been promoted widely within the ECU community and strong interest has been shown from international and local students across ECU’s three campuses. We are excited about the forthcoming fair and anticipate a vibrant and rewarding day for employers and students alike.

Information to Assist in Your Preparation

Exhibition Stands:
• 1 Trestle Table (1.8m x 1m)
• 2 chairs
• 1 Velcro display panel ( Approx dimension 1.8m x 1.2m)
• Optional internet access
• Company name (signage)
• Power available
• Lunch and refreshments (for 2 representatives)
• Parking Permits for two (2) vehicles.

Student Volunteers:
Employers will have access to Student Volunteers to help them set-up and dismantle their displays on the day. While, student volunteers will have undergone occupational and safety training prior to the event, they will be instructed not to lift or move any items that are likely to cause injury or harm to themselves or others.

Advanced Deliveries:
If necessary, bulk literature supples for your stand can be forwarded in advance of the fair and should be sent for the attention of Career Fair Coordinator, Student Recruitment and Careers (for the full address, see operation details at the beginning of this hand book).

Contact Student Recruitment and Careers prior to couriering to advise us of the expected arrival date. Please mark the items clearly with the name of your company and ECU Careers Fair. All deliveries must be made within Student Recruitment and Careers business hours 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Company profiling:
A Careers and Employment Fair Guide will be produced, and distributed on the day. Each exhibitor has the opportunity of being profiled in the programme and on the ECU Careers website.

If you wish to have a profile in the programme and on the ECU Careers website, please provide a short profile (maximum 150 words) along with your organisational logo and a direct link to your website and email to the Career Advisory Service

The deadline for the receipt of this information is 8/2/08.

International Students:
ECU has a high percentage of international students and we are committed to providing opportunities for their career development.

Many of these students will attend the Careers and Employment Fair and will be seeking information about working for your organisation both in Australia and overseas. We ask that where appropriate, organisations provide information on international operations and international contacts.

Information to Assist On the Day

Getting There:
The Edith Cowan University, Joondalup Campus is situated 25 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. Travel north along Mitchell Freeway and exit off Hodges Drive Joondalup.

The fair will be held in the Foyer of Building 32 (see map).

On Arrival:
A registration desk will be located at the venue.

Please register on arrival (between 9am and 11am). A member of the Student Recruitment and Careers team will provide you with an Exhibitor’s Pack and direct you to your exhibition area.

Loading & Unloading:
For drop off and pick-up of equipment, access to Building 32 is via a service road accessible from the university ring road. An additional short-term, loading bay is located in front on the University Library at Building 31.

Student volunteers can assist you in transferring display materials from your vehicle to your appointed stand. To ensure compliance with Western Australian Occupational Safety and Health Laws, please ensure materials that require lifting be appropriately packed, sized and shaped to prevent injury to volunteer students. If materials are too large or heavy, vendors may be required to make alternative arrangements. It is advisable to bring your own trolley on the day.


Car Parking:
Car Park number 2 has been secured for Exhibitors on the day of the Careers and Employment Fair. You will need to display your parking permit which will be forwarded to you prior to the event.

Refreshments and lunch:
Lunch for two individuals will be provided for each registered organisation. Morning tea will be provided at 10.30 am and bottled water will be available throughout the day.

For catering purposes, accurate numbers of company representatives are required at registration.

Rubbish Disposal:
Student volunteers will be available on the day to collect empty cardboard boxes.

Sun-downer:
Exhibitors are invited to attend an after-fair complementary sun-downer. This will be an informal event where you can relax. The function will be held at the ECUBar (Building 9), which overlooks the lake at the centre of the campus.

The Sun-downer commences at 4.00pm and is open to exhibitors, student volunteers and staff. The event is optional and incurs no charge.

After the Event

Company Presentations:
ECU’s Student Recruitment and Career branch organises company presentations throughout the year. If you would like to schedule a presentation please email the Careers Advisory Service

Literature:
Our careers team will be meeting you during the day and would like to collect promotional material from your displays to assist with our careers services.

Evaluation Form:
An evaluation form will be included in the Exhibitor Pack. Please take the time to provide feedback. A member of the Student Recruitment and Careers Team will collect your evaluation sheet during the day.
